Ever since Sam can remember, he took an interest in watching his Mother paint canvases in their Country Victorian home. At the price of his academic work, drawing became an obsession. Sam moved to Melbourne when he was 13, and after a few short courses in art, 2008 saw Sam take on a sign writing apprenticeship.
During this time, his trade school taught him a wide range skills, from the basic principles of Helvetica to gold leafing techniques. After five years as sign-writer, he moved on to start his own business, painting large scale murals. However, due to an unfortunate car accident, was bed ridden and unable to work for almost a year. He spent most of this time teaching himself how to draw portraits and calligraphy. At the end of 2015, Sam started his tattoo apprenticeship where he worked on developing his signature, Hollow Victorian style.
Shortly after his tattoo apprenticeship, Sam spent years travelling and tattooing in many countries, guest spotting at different shops and tattooing at some of the most well known and respected conventions in the world, including the Barcelona Tattoo Convention, Stockholm Ink Bash, Russian Tattoo Expo, and the prestigious, invite only, London Tattoo Convention and Mondial Du Tatouage in Paris.
Sam works with, and is sponsored by the best companies in the business including Bishop Tattoo, Intenze Tattoo Ink and Bamboogoo, and now is now based in Sydney Australia.
“I put my absolute heart and soul into every piece of lettering I create, whether its a tattoo, a header in my study books, or a sign for a Halloween candy bowl. Especially with tattoos. The tattoo process is ritualistic and involves an exchange of energy; So from the beginning to the end of the tattoo, from the design process, until I wrap my client up, I will treat it as such. So know that nothing but love will be put in to your tattoo.”
